Soaking Seeds

Does this scene look familiar to you? If so, then you most likely are a gardener. Here we have some organic parsnip seeds that were soaking. Why? Well parsnips are one of those seeds that are hard to germinate. By soaking the seeds, we’re actually exposing them to moisture thereby speeding up the process.

Soaking seeds also helps us to see what seeds will actually sprout. If they float, the likelihood they will grow into a full plant is low, but if they sink, it’s high. Of course this test isn’t 100% accurate, but with hard to germinate seeds we like to use it.

These seeds went into one of our raised garden beds after soaking for a full 24 hours. We will keep you posted on the progress it makes!
